Water Adventures and Realities

Our neurodivergent child, being sensory-seeking, absolutely loves swimming. But incontinence can make trips to the pool or beach stressful — worrying about accidents, feeling embarrassed at a pool party, or even imagining a public pool needing to be closed for cleaning. When they were younger, yet old enough to be out of nappies, wearing a swimming nappy under their swimmers often drew unwanted stares and attention.

Making a Splash with Confidence

Over time, we discovered a small range of containment swimmers designed to manage both bladder and bowel matter. Most designs include an inner lining that sits firmly against the body, helping to contain accidents and prevent leaks down the legs or up the back. Each style fits slightly differently, and through trial and error over the years, we found options that suited our child’s size and shape. From lived experience, we can confirm that they do hold fecal matter effectively, allowing enough time to discreetly exit and avoid any contamination.
